Venezia -> Firenze (train)

Arrevederci, Venezia!

My watch just beeped 3 o'clock so my train should be rolling any minute now for Bologna, where I switch to a train bound for Florence.

Venice was nice. Yesterday, after the aforementioned pizza, I went back to the hostel to pass out for a nap. I slept through my alarm and didn't wake up until one of my roommates came in. A girl named Helen from the Gold Coast of Australia, who owns a gym, but was taking some time off to enjoy herself. We went to explore the city together, getting lost, half-purposely, and half not, in order to discover the city. Really a very nice city, with canals and alleys everywhere. Had myself more gelati (2nd time of the day) before making our way back to the hostel to have dinner nearby. Dinner was, of course, pasta, which was alright.

(Cathedral San Marco & the Campanile - the one the one at Cal is modeled on...)

Met others in the hostel that night, a guy from Canada, and girls from England, Ireland, and Australia. Played some stupid card games; shithead, a weird version of mafia introduced by one of the Italian guys who manages the hostel, and then I introduced the version of Mafia I know. After a good night's sleep, it was off to San Marco, where we took a trip inside the cathedral. Quite nice, big scale, and really shows how much $$ the Catholic church had/has. After another helping of gelati, we got pooed on by a pigeon and had to to back to wash it off.

I got take out from a place right across the street and it turned out to be really good. After that, I took a water bus along the Grand Canal. I got some nice pictures and videos. After I got to the train station, I wandered around a bit and now I'm here on the train.
